Remember Jane and John? These two loves were married earlier this month at Burritt on the Mountain in Huntsville, Alabama. Our artistic shots were rained out, and Ashley and I promised to meet back up with them post-honeymoon for a session or two.
Lucky us, we were finally able to get together last weekend! These two are physically very gorgeous people, but more importantly, the love that they have for one another causes them to positively glow. We hope you enjoy!
We were very excited to revisit Burritt on a beautiful, sunny day, with tons of flawless natural light. The light is truly the third star of this set of images, as it is a force unto itself.
We also ran into the resident barn cats, Laverne and Shirley, while shooting!
Oohing and aahing over newlyweds is easy-it’s the natural thing to do. It is another experience altogether to witness two souls still as in love as they were the day they wed, and nearly impossible to keep yourself from swooning behind the lens. I think the only thing that kept our feet planted on the ground was the fact that the love between these two mates, friends, and partners is more than real.
Our session with Richard and Judy took place in their home, where they are most comfortable and where the years of their lives have been documented and preserved. Their home is more than simply the house that they live in, and is truly grown from a limb to a full-fledged member of the family tree. Every memento, from the refrigerator covered with photographs to the antique record players, has a beautiful story. Judy and Richard have a special place in their big hearts for the preservation of history and the people that lived it.
They still have Richard’s boutonniere from their wedding day, along with the same “Bride” and “Groom” glasses they originally drank from!
Judy wrote the original text for this sign, after spear-heading a successful campaign to have Five Points in Huntsville marked a Historic Neighborhood.
We wanted to drop a quick note to let you know that one of our bouquet shots will be in the next issue of Southern Weddings Magazine! The issue hits newsstands on November 9, so make sure you pick up a copy (or at least look us up!).
Ashley and I recently shot our very first newborn session*, which served as reminder that there is truly nothing like a little human being who is fresh to the world. Every little moment is so beautiful, and even things like watching a baby watch her hand, or when she gives you a quizzical look–you can practically hear her wondering “Who are you? Why are you here? And just what is that big black box you’re pointing at me?”
Anyway, before I wax on and on about infants (I am a mother, guys, you have to understand!), here are the photos (shot on-location at the family’s home), which we are thrilled to share with you.

Kelly and Stephen have two sweet boys, Isaac (2, turning 3 next week!) and Ethan (4 months). As both Kelly and Stephen are artists, this family is full of not only LOVE but tons of creativity and energy as well. K and S are finally (finally! ;D) tying the knot in November, and requested a family session in lieu of engagement photos. Since they’re friends, my husband, son, and I swung by their house this weekend, and here are a few snippets of what took place!
Jane and John were married last Sunday at Burritt on the Mountain in Huntsville. The original plan was for the pair to wed outside in front of the Burritt mansion, where they could enjoy the beautiful autumn temperatures. Rain, however, intervened, and the ceremony was re-routed to the church, which was built in 1884 and originally located at the corner of College and Sullivan Streets in Madison, Alabama.
The church only emphasized the intimacy and genuine love shared between not only Jane and John, but all of their friends and family. The standing-room-only crowd was more than excited to see Jane and John get married, and Ashley and I were so honored to be involved.
Ashley and I just shot THE most gorgeous, love-filled wedding (congrats, Jane and John–more photos later this week!). As if that wasn’t good enough, we’ve also been featured on Rock ‘n Roll Bride!
