Here’s another post from Dana! This time we’re catching you up on her work from a few recent sessions. You can see our original posts: Jim and Lynn’s wedding, Paul and Natasha’s maternity session, and Cooper’s 6 month session.

Jim & Lynn

When Ashley and Stephanie mentioned there would be the chance to shoot another wedding, I jumped at the opportunity. I wanted so much to have the experience again and I didn’t even realize who the bride and groom were going to be. Needless to say when I discovered it was Jim Hudson’s wedding, I felt so privileged to be a part of the event.

Meeting Lynn and Jim and their families was a great experience. The minister mentioned that Jim was a person that saw people not for who they are, but who they can be. Those words hung around in my heart after he spoke them. It was quickly apparent how true these words were by the sincere love and respect the happy couple brought out of their friends and family. These two are in love and so deeply loved by those around them. The entire night was pure joy.

Paul & Natasha

The pregnancy glow is a real thing. I used to joke around when people would comment on my glow when I was pregnant and tell them it felt like a nuclear glow because I was so nauseated. I understand the glowing, though. I felt it internally and I see it radiating in other expectant mothers. Photographing Natasha and Paul was my first attempt at capturing this beautiful energy with my camera as an intern. It was so fun meeting Natasha and Paul and having the opportunity to share in their pre-baby excitement. Natasha and Paul are naturals in front of the camera. Getting the chance to photograph them at this super exciting time was quite an honor. I hope I’ll get to meet their sweet little baby once he or she arrives.

Cooper

I had to move a few babysitting mountains to attend this shoot. There was some juggling involved in getting to the shoot, but I had met Mandy and Joe at Jim and Lynn’s wedding and I couldn’t resist the opportunity to meet their little boy. Joe and Mandy emanate a type of joy that draws people in. The love they share reaches out and touches you. I knew meeting Cooper would be a special experience and that sweet little bean did not disappoint. The time I we spent with Cooper had my giddy baby senses on overload. His sweet puckering sounds echoing throughout their beautiful home made my heart so happy. When I got home and was editing the photos, my own little boy saw Cooper on the screen and started waving to him. Now they will have to be friends.

Getting to the Clark family’s home was an adventure. It took me a little longer than I expected, but it was certainly worth the trip to meet this delightful family and there super cute dogs. I was greeted by Emma and as soon as I saw the Bama collar around her neck, I knew I was going to have some fun. I loved getting to spend time with this family in their beautiful and unique home. Their view of Huntsville is one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. The day got even more fun when Emma put on her Halloween costume and I thought for sure that would be may favorite moment of the day. However, as we were leaving I realized this shoot was a gift from the boys to their mother and I have to say that was my favorite moment by far.

As if baby Jonas wasn’t cute enough, he arrived dressed in his awesome Star Wars onesie. I knew immediately this was going to be a fun shoot, and we got double the cuteness when his cousin Evan tagged along! As we snapped away, I couldn’t help but think what great friends they will be. I hope the photos from this session is something they will always treasure. It was so much fun to meet these sweet little boys and get to capture their awesome expressions.

The blog post featuring our images from Brandy and Michael’s wedding will be up an hour after this post launches. For now, enjoy Dana’s beautiful words and image! — Stephanie & Ashley

Brandy and Michael’s wedding was my first day as the White Rabbit intern and I am so glad it was. It was the perfect event to get my feet wet and learn from Ashley and Stephanie.

I’ve always thought being a wedding photographer would be too stressful or intimidating and honestly a nightmare, but I was leaving something out of the equation in my mind: magic. Yes — it may sound a little cheesy, but when you are at an event like this you can’t help but feel honored just to be present and included.

My husband is my dream come true. His name is Scott and we just celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. The best weddings I’ve attended reached into my heart and stirred those feelings I had when I looked at him and promised to love him forever. When that happens, it sticks with me.

My favorite weddings are my favorite because of the way the people and moments come together to write a beautiful memory in the hearts of all in attendance. Brandy and Michael’s wedding was just that type of event. From the guestbook painting created by Brandy’s Dad to the wedding vows that had us all laughing and crying, every detail of this day showcased the heart, creativity, humor and love that emanate from this couple and their family and friends. As a photographer, I felt giddy floating from detail to detail trying to capture what was on the faces of the guests and in the air: nothing short of magic.

Meet our intern: DANA!

November 25, 2010

Dana is our new intern! Everyone we interviewed was exceptional — Ashley and I were blown away by the talent that inquired with us! We’re both crazy happy with Dana and are loving getting to know her, and also thrilled to finally introduce her to you. She wrote this sweet little bit for her blog intro, and we thought you’d like it. Don’t worry, this won’t be the last you’ll hear from her! – Stephanie

“Mommy, I’m glad you are a photographer.”

Those words came from my four year-old little girl this morning as we smooshed our faces together for a self-portrait. She has reached the point in her life where she has grown tired of Mommy snapping pictures every day, so this was a pretty monumental compliment from my sassy girl.

I am devoted to creating. I love telling stories with words and pictures. I love things that sparkle or twinkle or giggle or shine. I am mom to a four year-old girl, all her imaginary friends and a one year-old angel boy.

My love for photography is directly related to my enjoyment of children. I love kids because kids get me and I get them. Somewhere along this journey with my camera in my hand, I realized being a photographer was the dream I always came back to. No matter where my hopes and ideas have taken me, the camera is always where I end up.

Applying for the internship with White Rabbit Studios was a step into that dream. It was a moment of holding my breath, closing my eyes and jumping forward into something I’ve wanted to make a reality for years. The joy I’ve felt since becoming the first White Rabbit intern is something so deep and so palpable that lately I have found myself sparkling and twinkling and giggling and shining. Every moment of this internship feels like a gift and I’m already learning so much from Ashley and Stephanie.

So far, the best moment still has to be when my biggest little fan called me a photographer.
