Happy Halloween! We hope you enjoy the day whether or not you are dressed as your favorite book character, super hero, villain, or ingenious idea you’ve created! We are also thrilled to announce that we will be covering the Design Sponge book signing in Birmingham, Alabama. Being a long term reader and huge fan, I (Ashley) can’t really begin to describe my excitement! If you are in or around the Birmingham area, you should come! You can find more information here or below.

When Stacy proposed the idea of shooting at the Mountaintop Flea Market and at Zach’s Grandmother’s barn, we were thrilled! We’re both avid flea market fans, and loved the idea of shooting at the barn for all of the historical significance to Zach’s family. One of the rooms in the barn was his dad and uncle’s old hang-out spot — you could still see remnants of their younger years there.

Everything from the bright yellow brick buildings to the gorgeous sun streaming through the barn was perfect. The contagious smiles, good humor and love these share made this session a breeze!

Jennifer and Anthony are the cutest! After the initial introductions and pleasantries, they both informed us that they were simply not very photogenic, and therefore didn’t know how the session would go. We both just smiled goofily at each other and at them — this pair is clearly anything BUT not photogenic!

It’s one thing to capture the merging of two love birds, or the growth of a family…but it’s an entirely different world beyond the laboratory doors. We had the privilege of capturing the scientists of Conversant Bio at work. Instead of an exchange of rings, we focused on the “feeding” of cells. It was surreal to witness first hand such a delicate and intricate part of science.

It’s no secret that I (Ashley) love photographing interiors. From the documentation of the restoration of my own home, to some of my favorite spaces of Huntsville, I’m a sucker for capturing a striking room. When Troy and Rhonda contacted us about using some of our general shots of our beloved neighborhood (Five Points) to feature inside of their new restaurant, 1892 East*, I was beyond flabbergasted! What were nice moments during afternoon walks soon became works of art on canvas.

If you are one that hankers for more local businesses, and less of the same old chain, then 1892 East is the place for you! Fresh and delicious food, friendly service, fantastic atmosphere, and my favorite – a scrumptious brunch – are just some of the highlights of this neighborhood restaurant!
