I (Ashley) will admit that I’m extremely lucky getting to work side-by-side with my husband throughout several ventures in our life, however, it’s always nice for a vacation. The two of us haven’t gone on a trip together (that wasn’t business related) in about 5 years. You can say that this beach trip was much needed. We spent a week with sand in between our toes, and the salty air in our nose. It was fantastic to be away from phone calls, emails, meetings, and computer screens. We were at the beach for Fourth of July, and it was miles and miles of nothing but fireworks blasting from the beaches and busting over the sea. The rest of the days were spent relaxing water side and enjoying delicious food among friends – definitely the vacation we needed!

I opted to only bring my instax camera and use my phone for capturing all the beach fun!

These are our “HELL YES BEACH TIME” faces! We left after working at the record store on Saturday, and got to Destin around 9pm…it was such a nice drive!

On January 29th, 2011 we celebrated the first ever Hi-Fi Weddings Fest! We hope this is the first of many, as we met some incredible people who are looking to offer something totally unique to help couples throw a fabulous wedding. The fest was complete with over 30 like-minded vendors, a vintage fashion show, handmade wedding dresses, cakes, cupcakes, live DJ sets, a sultry dance instruction, photobooth fun, and giveaways galore! While this definitely took a lot of time and planning, it was worth every moment! We’ll began prepping for the next one later this year, but for now take a sneak peak into the fun we had! We can’t thank the vendors and patrons enough for making this such a huge success!

Behind the Scenes: Tattoos!

November 26, 2010

Ashley and I are BRAVE SOULS! I say this after we recently got tattoos (my first, her fourth!) at the ever-fabulous Blue Rose Tattoo in Huntsville. After many hours spent debating what I would get, and then many more hours debating whether or not I would follow through with the tattoo, Ashley convinced me that we should just go and do it. Instead of being quite that spontaneous (I needed some time to warm up to the idea of willingly allowing someone to poke my skin with needles), we made an appointment for a few weeks in advance.

I’m happy to speak for both of us when I say we LOVE our tattoos — Ashley got the skeleton key to her house on her inner forearm, and I had the imprint of my son’s newborn feet tattooed on the back of my calf. They were painful, but definitely worth it, and we recommend Blue Rose (especially Caroline!) to anyone that’s interested in getting a tattoo!

Ashley and I were recently joined by Andy (Ashley’s husband/our graphic & web designer!) and Dustin (our friend and soon-to-be videographer — more details about THAT addition to WRS in a few weeks!) while shooting a wedding in Leeds, AL. This was really fun, especially since neither of us ever realized how much more awesome it would be to shoot a wedding with a whole GROUP of people. Not that we don’t have plenty of fun on our own, but you can never have too much of a good time. At least not the way we have good times!

We loaded up in a borrowed minivan (thanks, Andy’s mom!), which was stellar, because it had a DVD player. Since it was Halloween, I brought two Harry Potters (Half-Blood Prince and Goblet of Fire, for you fellow HP geeks), Sweeney Todd, and Magical Mystery Tour. We ended up watching Half-Blood Prince on the way home.

We also partook in our very lovely and somewhat famous Looking Glass — check out those group shots!

Now I think the only thing that would be better is if we could get Sean (my husband) and our 19 month old in on the action. Hmm…one day!

So now that I’ve outed myself as a huge Star Wars fan, I have no problem sharing a few photos from our recent family (myself, husband, and son) trip to Orlando for Star Wars Celebration V.

If you’re not familiar with the Star Wars Celebrations, I’m a little lost as to how to accurately describe them to you. Basically, it’s an official event for everything related to Star Wars–stuff created by fans for fans. Everything you can think of is there–people in costumes, bands, parties, events, lectures, a kid’s play room…the list is endless. They hold celebrations every few years, so if you have a fellow Star Wars nerd in your life, I’d keep tabs on it!
