In case you happened to overlook it, TODAY IS VALENTINE’S DAY!!

Sure, it can be cheesy, and many think it was invented by card companies as a way to make extra cash, but we both think Valentine’s Day is an awesome excuse for extra cuddles! Hopefully it’s not the ONLY day you celebrate the love you share with someone (a friend, child, or significant other!), but it’s always fun to have a special day designated for you to kick it up a notch or two.

Speaking of love, we recently moved into our brand-new studio on the first floor at Lowe Mill, and couldn’t be more head over heels with it! We have three HUGE windows that pour in light, a brightly colored wall full of friends’ faces, adequate workspace, and room to grow! To celebrate, we brought out The Looking Glass this past Saturday during our grand opening. It was fun to see old friends, clients, and new faces all celebrating themselves and each other! We look forward to adding more photos to our “family wall” and hope one day YOU can be among the happy memories!

Ashley and I have probably mentioned this before, but we usually become “lifers” with our clients — we end up friends on Facebook, we shoot multiple events/sessions for the same couple, family, or group of friends. We like to keep contact even after everything’s over with, and have made a few lasting friendships as a result of working with people.

We first met Karen when she hired us last year, and we were thrilled when she asked us to shoot a family session for her and her two sons. These three are quite the team, and it was definitely fun to be around them!

Each time we see Jonas, I’m always biting my tongue to keep the words from “My Name is Jonas” by Weezer inside! While I doubt I’m the only one who has the song immediately leap to their mind, it’s a pretty awesome one to share a name with.

We met Jonas, Chris, and Michelle (plus Chris’s sister and Jonas’s cousin!) at Lowe Mill for his three month session. We thought this would be appropriate to blog today, being Christmas Eve and all, since Jonas was proudly donning both a Star Wars shirt (…which really has nothing at all to do with Christmas, but roll with it!) and a “Baby’s First Christmas” Santa Hat. Between discussing elf outfits for little kids with Michelle (verdict: SO CUTE!) and giggling over Jonas’s every facial expression, I think we would all call this session a success!

Also: you can read Dana’s post about the session here!

Anthropologie, eat your heart out!

Have you heard of Huntsville’s newest and cutest shop, The Switch House? It’s basically the most perfect place in the city. Imagine walking in Etsy in REAL LIFE, and then you might get close to what The Switch House is like. To top it off, everything is local and organically made. From candles, to bath products, to pet treats, to one-of-a-kind art, to fresh bread, to whimsical wear, The Switch House has something for everyone!

Stefanie and Drew are the coolest — we knew as soon as we walked into their music-poster-bedecked home that we’d get along wonderfully! These two hail from Kentucky but have lived in Alabama for a few years. Their favorite bands reads like a list Ashley or I could have written, and their mutual book collection is impressive, to say the least!

We shot at quite a few spots — their home, Brahan Springs Park, and Lowe Mill. The weather was a little chilly (it was truly the beginning of winter), but everyone was a good sport and the photos are delicious!
